Description
Description
The Bonsai 150L commercial autoclave is a vertical, digital electric pressure sterilizer built for mushroom farms, labs and serious home growers. Its 150-liter (160-quart) stainless chamber sterilizes up to 48 three-pound grain bags per cycle — about the capacity of six 30-quart stovetop pressure cookers in one machine.
Set the time, temperature, pressure and venting on the digital panel, load the chamber and start the cycle. We run these units daily in our own production, stock them in the U.S., and back every one with in-house technical support from the people who use them.

Why growers pick the 150L
- Production capacity – 48 × 3 lb grain bags, 24 × 5 lb or 12 × 10 lb substrate bags per cycle.
- Program it and walk away – Digital controls for cycle time, temperature, pressure and venting give repeatable results batch after batch.
- Faster turnaround – Typically reaches pressure in about 45–60 minutes, with natural cooling or automatic controlled venting at the end of the cycle.
- Built for daily use – SUS 304 stainless inner chamber, two stackable stainless baskets and heavy-duty casters.
- Stocked and supported in the U.S. – Ships from our warehouses with free lifetime technical support and replacement parts on the shelf.

The 150L fits a garage or small lab and runs on a standard 30-amp, 240V circuit.
What's included
- Bonsai 150L vertical digital electric autoclave (black lid standard; white lid available)
- 2 × stackable stainless steel baskets
- 6 ft power cord (plug not included — see Power & installation below)
- Heavy-duty caster wheels
How to run a grain cycle
- Add water. Fill the chamber with 4–4.5 gallons of filtered or RO water.
- Load. Stack grain or substrate bags in the two baskets and lower them into the chamber.
- Seal. Close the lid and tighten the clamps. The door locks automatically while the chamber is under pressure.
- Program. For a full load of grain, set 121°C (250°F) for 3–3.5 hours, then start the cycle.
- Cool and unload. Let it cool naturally or use the controlled venting for faster turnaround. Most cycles run about 4–4.5 hours from start to finish.

Power & installation
You need a 208–240V, 30-amp circuit. Installation is similar to adding an outlet for a clothes dryer or EV charger. The unit ships with a 6 ft cord and no plug, so you choose the plug and matching receptacle — a 30-amp, 240V configuration such as NEMA 6-30 or twist-lock L6-30. We recommend a local electrician for the initial install.

Common questions
How much can I sterilize at once?
Up to 48 × 3 lb grain bags, 24 × 5 lb substrate bags or 12 × 10 lb substrate bags per cycle.
What is the sterilization process for grain bags?
Add 4–4.5 gallons of filtered or RO water, load the grain bags in stacks, tighten the clamps and start the cycle. For a full load we recommend 121°C (250°F) for 3–3.5 hours.
How long does a cycle take from start to finish?
Most cycles take about 4–4.5 hours including heat-up and cooldown. Natural cooling takes longer; the automatic controlled venting gives faster turnaround.
How hard is it to install in my garage?
It is similar to adding an outlet for a dryer or electric car charger. You need a 208–240V, 30-amp circuit and a plug and receptacle of your choice, such as NEMA 6-30 or L6-30. Most electricians can wire it easily.
Does it come with a plug?
No. It ships with a 6 ft cord and no plug so you can match the plug to your receptacle.
Can you ship to Canada?
Yes. Cross-border freight is quoted case by case, so no shipping option appears at checkout for a Canadian address. Contact us with your delivery address and we will price the freight before you order.
Why is there no shipping option when I order several units?
Automatic freight rates cover loads up to 1,200 lbs, which is three units. For four or more, contact us with your address and quantity and we will quote the freight.
What replacement parts will I need?
The door gasket is a wear part that typically lasts 6–9 months, and the heating elements last about 3 years with daily commercial use. We stock both, and temperature sensors and control boards are available by contacting us.
Why buy from us?
Many competing units ship from overseas with long lead times. We stock our autoclaves in the U.S., run them in our own production, provide in-house technical support, and work with the factory on upgrades that matter to mushroom growers.
