Description
Description
The Bonsai 200L commercial autoclave is a large-capacity vertical electric pressure sterilizer for mushroom farms, labs and growers scaling past pressure cookers. Its roughly 210-liter stainless chamber sterilizes up to about 72 three-pound grain bags per cycle, on a footprint of just 26" × 26".
Digital controls handle cycle time, temperature, pressure and venting, so it runs as a set-it-and-forget-it machine for daily production. We run these units in our own production, stock them in the U.S., and back every one with in-house technical support.

Choosing the right commercial autoclave
A quick overview of our autoclave sizes, production capacity and which model fits your operation.
Why growers pick the 200L
- Commercial capacity – Up to about 72 × 3 lb grain bags or 40 × 5 lb bags per cycle, depending on fill and layout.
- Set it and forget it – Digital control of time, temperature, pressure and venting for repeatable cycles.
- Compact footprint – A large chamber on a 26" × 26" × 51" footprint that fits garages, grow rooms and small production spaces.
- Built for daily use – SUS 304 stainless chamber, three stainless wire baskets plus a solid lower basket.
- Sterilize or pasteurize – Fully adjustable temperature settings cover sterilization and lower-temperature pasteurization runs.
What's included
- Bonsai 200L vertical digital electric autoclave
- 3 × stainless steel wire baskets
- 1 × solid lower basket
- Color-coded wiring, ready for your electrician to connect to the outlet type you choose
How to run a cycle
- Add water. Fill the chamber with water to the level shown in the quick start guide.
- Load. Stack grain or substrate bags in the baskets, leaving room for steam to circulate.
- Seal. Close and lock the lid. It stays locked while the chamber is under pressure.
- Program. Set time, temperature and pressure on the digital panel — 121°C (250°F) is the standard sterilization setting — and start the cycle.
- Cool and unload. Vent manually or automatically, or let it cool naturally. A full load commonly takes around 6 hours start to finish.

- Manual venting option – Vent by hand at the end of a cycle if you prefer.
Power & installation
You need a 220/240V, 40-amp single-phase circuit (a 40–50 A breaker is recommended). Installation is similar to wiring a large electric dryer, kiln or EV charger. The unit has color-coded wiring so your electrician can connect the plug or outlet type they choose. We strongly recommend a certified electrician for the install.

Common questions
How many bags can it hold?
Up to about 72 × 3 lb grain bags or 40 × 5 lb bags per cycle, depending on how they are filled and arranged.
How long does a full cycle take?
Around 6 hours for a full load, depending on load size, starting water temperature, venting method and cooldown.
How hard is it to install?
Most electricians can install it on a 220/240V, 40-amp single-phase circuit with a 40–50 A breaker — similar to a large dryer, kiln or EV charger.
Can it pasteurize as well as sterilize?
Yes. Temperature is fully adjustable, so you can run lower-temperature pasteurization cycles as well as full sterilization.
Should I get the 150L or the 200L?
The 150L runs on a 30-amp circuit and handles 48 grain bags per cycle. The 200L needs a 40-amp circuit and handles up to about 72, so it suits growers producing grain spawn or substrate every day.
Can you ship to Alaska, Hawaii or Canada?
Yes. Freight to those destinations is quoted case by case, so no shipping option appears at checkout. Contact us with your delivery address and we will price the freight before you order.
What replacement parts will I need?
The door gasket is a wear part that typically lasts 6–9 months, and the heating elements last about 3 years with daily commercial use. We stock both.
