Harvesting, Drying & Storage

(8 products)

Harvesting, drying, and storing your mushrooms well is what turns a good flush into a shelf-stable harvest you can use for months. This is your hub for everything after the grow: the tools to cut and collect a clean harvest, the dehydrators and drying kits that remove moisture low and slow, and the jars, bags, lids, and desiccants that keep dried mushrooms fresh. Not sure where to start? Shop by stage — Harvesting Tools, Drying Kits & Dehydrators, and Storage Solutions — or read our complete guide to drying mushrooms for step-by-step methods and temperatures.

Shop by Stage

Everything you need after the grow, organized into three steps:

The Post-Harvest Workflow

Good results come from handling each stage well. Harvest at the right time with a clean cut to protect the fruit and the substrate. Dry low and slow — airflow first, then a dehydrator or desiccant kit — until the thickest pieces snap instead of bend. Then store your cracker-dry harvest airtight, in a cool, dark spot, with a desiccant to hold back moisture.

Tip: Dry gently. We recommend low temperatures (around 96–106°F in a dehydrator) to protect flavor, appearance, and heat-sensitive compounds. For step-by-step methods, see our complete guide to drying mushrooms.

Harvesting, Drying & Storage FAQ

What do I need after harvesting mushrooms?

Three things: a clean cutting tool to harvest without damaging the fruit, a way to dry them (a dehydrator or desiccant kit), and airtight storage with a desiccant to keep the dried harvest fresh.

What’s the best way to preserve a mushroom harvest?

Dry them fully — until the thickest pieces snap rather than bend — then seal them airtight in a cool, dark place with a silica gel canister or desiccant. Drying low and slow protects quality; airtight storage with moisture control keeps them good for months.

How do I keep dried mushrooms fresh in storage?

Store them in an airtight jar, mylar, or freezer bag with a silica gel canister to absorb any leftover or re-absorbed moisture, and keep the container out of heat and light. Browse jars, bags, lids, and desiccants in Storage Solutions.

Do I need a dehydrator to dry mushrooms?

No. Fan drying with good airflow, often finished with a desiccant kit, works well for small batches. A dehydrator is simply the fastest and most consistent option for bigger or repeated harvests. Compare both in Drying Kits & Dehydrators.
