How to seal a filter-patch bag
- Seal below the filter patch, never across it. Sealing over the patch blocks the gas exchange the bag depends on. Leave the filter in the open portion of the bag.
- Press flat and even. Smooth the poly across the bar so there are no wrinkles — a wrinkle is a channel that air and contaminants travel through.
- Match the pulse to the thickness. Thick 3-mil bags need a longer pulse than thin film. Test on an offcut first if you are switching bag types.
- Let the seam cool before moving the bag. The weld sets as it cools; tugging it hot can open it.
