The Complete Medium 44Q Monotub Grow Kit is an all-in-one bulk mushroom grow kit: a 44-quart Grower's Select monotub, a Premium 5-Grain spawn bag (2.25 lbs), 7.5 lbs of pasteurized Select Bulk Substrate, vermiculite for casing, filters, plugs, a liner and a spray bottle. Just add spores or liquid culture.
The middle size in our lineup: easier to handle than a 66Q while still big enough for a full bulk grow. Every component is matched to the tub, so you can go from inoculation to harvest without sourcing anything else.

You provide: a spore syringe or liquid culture syringe. Shop liquid culture syringes.
How it works
- Inoculate the spawn. Wipe the injection port with alcohol and inject 5–7cc of spores or liquid culture into the spawn bag.
- Colonize the grain. Keep it at 72–76°F out of direct light. At about 25–30% colonization, break up and shake the grain, then let it finish until fully white.
- Spawn to bulk. Fit the black liner in the tub. Break up the colonized grain and mix it evenly with the bulk substrate, then level the surface.
- Case and colonize. Spread the vermiculite casing layer over the surface. Seal the air holes with the incubation plugs and let the tub colonize, warm and undisturbed.
- Fruit. Swap the plugs for the filter disks, give the tub indirect light and mist the walls with the spray bottle to keep humidity up.
Spawning to bulk: break up the grain and mix it through the substrate.

What do I need to add?
Just a spore syringe or liquid culture syringe. Everything else — tub, spawn, substrate, casing, filters, plugs, liner and spray bottle — is in the kit.
How much spore solution or liquid culture should I use?
Inject 5–7cc of spores or liquid culture into the spawn bag.
What temperature does it need?
Keep the grain and the tub at 72–76°F while they colonize. In a cool room, a heating mat under the tub helps.
When do I swap the plugs for filter disks?
Keep the air holes plugged while the tub colonizes. Once the surface is colonized, replace the plugs with the filter disks to bring in fresh air and start fruiting.
When do I add the vermiculite casing layer?
Right after you mix the spawn into the substrate and level the surface, before the tub goes into colonization.
What is the liner for?
It blocks light from the sides of the tub, which cuts down on side pinning, and it makes cleanup between grows much easier.
Can I reuse the monotub?
Yes. Clean it between grows and restock it with a 44Q refill kit — spawn, substrate, new filter disks and a fresh liner.
Which size should I choose?
The Small 28Q is the simplest start, spawned by a single grain jar. The Medium 44Q uses one spawn bag and 7.5 lbs of substrate. The Large 66Q uses two spawn bags and 10 lbs for the biggest harvest per run.
