Why growers pick this kit

  • Spawn-ready – Designed around your own fully colonized grain spawn.
  • Pre-made substrate – Pasteurized, pre-hydrated Select Bulk Substrate in a single 7.5 lb bag — ready straight out of the bag.
  • No drilling or measuring – Tub, filters, plugs and liner are matched and ready to go.
  • Thick-walled Grower's Select tub – Our own tub, made with extra-thick walls so the bottom doesn't flex when you move it.
  • Reusable – Clean the tub and reuse it for future grows.

What's in the kit

  • Grower's Select 44-quart monotub (18" × 15.5" × 12")
  • 7.5 lbs of pasteurized Select Bulk Substrate
  • 1 quart vermiculite for the casing layer
  • 6 self-adhesive monotub filter disks
  • 6 incubation hole plugs
  • Black monotub liner — reduces side pinning and simplifies cleanup
  • 8 oz fine-mist spray bottle
  • Step-by-step bulk growing guide

You provide: fully colonized grain spawn. Make your own, or grab a Premium 5-Grain Spawn Bag or 32 oz grain jars.

How much spawn do I need?

  • 1 fully colonized spawn bag
  • 2 × 32 oz 5-grain or rye jars
  • 3 × 24 oz 5-grain jars
  • 6 × half-pint substrate jars
  • Or 3–4 quarts of any colonized grain spawn

How it works

  1. Colonize your spawn. Prepare your grain spawn separately until it is fully colonized.
  2. Spawn to bulk. Fit the liner, break up the colonized grain and mix it evenly with the bulk substrate, then level the surface.
  3. Case. Spread the vermiculite casing layer over the surface.
  4. Colonize the tub. Seal the air holes with the incubation plugs and let the tub colonize at 72–76°F, undisturbed.
  5. Fruit. Swap the plugs for the filter disks, give the tub indirect light and mist the walls with the spray bottle.

FAQ

Is grain spawn included?

No. This kit is for growers who already have colonized grain spawn or make their own. The Complete 44Q kit includes a spawn bag.

How much spawn do I need?

One fully colonized spawn bag, two 32 oz jars, three 24 oz jars, six half-pint jars, or 3–4 quarts of any colonized grain spawn.

Is the substrate ready to use?

Yes. It arrives pasteurized and hydrated to field capacity, ready to mix straight out of the bag.

When do I add the vermiculite casing layer?

Right after you mix the spawn into the substrate and level the surface, before the tub goes into colonization.

When do I swap the plugs for filter disks?

Keep the air holes plugged while the tub colonizes. Once the surface is colonized, replace the plugs with the filter disks to bring in fresh air and start fruiting.

Can I reuse the monotub?

Yes. Clean it between grows; a 44Q refill kit restocks it with spawn, substrate, filters and a liner.
