Tailored for mushrooms that thrive in grassland or manure-rich environments, the Manure/Grass Lover's Bulk Spawn Grow & Casing Kit includes everything needed to create optimal conditions for species requiring aged horse manure and high-pH peat-based casing layers. Designed by Gordo Tek, this kit is ideal for advanced researchers who know exactly what they're working with.
The included substrate blend is made from sun-aged pasture-fed horse manure, finely chopped straw, coir, vermiculite, and a buffered pH formulation—vacuum-sealed and pasteurized for 2.5 hours to eliminate harmful bacteria while preserving beneficial microbes.
Once your grain spawn is fully colonized, simply mix it into the provided manure-based substrate and top with the included casing layer. The casing mix arrives in a 3T Unicorn bag. A step-by-step guide is included to walk you through the process, including tips for high-air exchange fruiting chambers.

So far it seems very sturdy and I will give another review after I fill her up. Im just getting started with this life changing hobby and this will hold up strong
It was a price commitment, however it equated to less than I would spend on most any DIY project. I decided to purchase it and have since done spore work, agar transfers to agar and grain, culture to spawn bag inoculations, cloming and prints all with a 0% contamination rate. I practice about as good a sterile technique as I can mustard, considering I perform all my work on my kitchen table. Im consistently amazed by how flawless everything has turned out since adding this to my operations. I consider it indispensable. Instead of the double sided tape provided, i purchased some plastic velcro tape from the Gnome Depot and use it to affix the pvc guards to the sides. When i am done, i have also made it so i can sandwich them together and store them one the front to protect that precious filter when not in use. If you can swing it, buy it. Takes the risk out of procedure. Im bummed i cheaped out on the stainless riser offered at a discount with purchase of the LFH. That would have been exceedingly useful, but I have since utilized a baking drying rack to much success. Now go forth and frolic in the dung!
This is really built well, simple to operate, so happy to have some control of fruiting conditions finally.
I ordered 7 altogether so far, and every single one worked faster than expected. As you can see from the pics I got crazy growth in just 5 days from all of them!
I absolutely love the 28 quart monotubs. It lets me have 2 different grows going and since I'm a beginner, that helps in case one tub get contaminated or something goes wrong with one. I will still have a backup! Happy Growing! I know I am!
So far, I have no complaints. Everything was delivered on time packaged with care. I got everything set up now, i'm just crossing my fingers and hoping everything crosses the finish line.
10 pounds black cow casing, 3-32oz 5 grain jars fully colonized in mono-tub. Completely covered with mycelium and started fruiting condition on day 7.

Last week I got the brick to test drive for my microgreens, after using Fox Farm for over 3.5 years. As the rising costs of soil, the weight, the shipping cost and the covering per bag, we needed to find something else. After a couple of days searching I found the bricks from Midwest. I send an email to be sure that I can use it for my greens, signed up for subscription as it saved me 10 bucks and ordered a pack of 4. If it doesn't work well so it be, for 66 bucks, 120 bucks cheaper than the soil, there's not much to loose.
I was anxious, as I never used anything else than soil, your always be careful when changing to a different product.
Used 1 brick with water and was blown away immidiatly as I actually was getting almost 28 gallons of soil from 1 brick, astonishing. Okay now we plant and see if it's working and dam, I'm impressed!!! Greens came up 2 days faster than expected, the soil is the best i've got in years, they water intake is amazing as it holds it much longer than soil. The greens looked great and taste perfectly.
I counted that a pallet of 220 bricks for $1724 incl. shipping, could give me roughly estimated 26 gallon per brick, 5720 gallons which is 764cu.ft, I would need to buy 382 bags of soil to get the same amount of soil comparing to the bricks, I would need to order 8 pallets of soil which ends up incl. shipping at $17236,80 (shipping per pallet at $861). Considering that I get an awesome product that works 10 times better than soil, I also safe $15512,80 that I can invest in my company. I'm sold. The future looks brighter than ever as i stick with the bricks!!
