The Build Your Own Large 66Q Monotub Grow Kit lets you put together the bulk grow you actually want. Every kit starts with our thick-walled Grower's Select 66-quart monotub, filter disks, plugs, liner, vermiculite casing and a spray bottle. You choose the grain spawn and the bulk substrate, mix and match if you like, and just add spores or liquid culture.
Pick rye or 5-grain spawn, then any two 5 lb bags of Select, Black Cow or Willy's Blend substrate. Everything you build is 16% off buying the same items separately, including the optional still air box and dehydrator.

Plan around your grain. Your substrate waits while the spawn bags colonize, so keep Select in the fridge until you spawn to bulk, and use Black Cow or Willy's Blend within 45 days.

How to grow it

Inoculate the spawn. Wipe the injection ports with alcohol and inject 5cc of spores or 7–10cc of liquid culture into each spawn bag.

Colonize the grain. Keep it at 72–76°F out of direct light. At about 25–30% colonization, break up and shake the grain, then let it finish until fully white.

Spawn to bulk. Fit the black liner in the tub. Break up the colonized grain and mix it evenly with your two bags of substrate, then level the surface.

Case and colonize. Spread the vermiculite casing layer over the surface. Seal the air holes with the incubation plugs and let the tub colonize, warm and undisturbed.

Fruit. Swap the plugs for the filter disks, give the tub indirect light and mist the walls with the spray bottle to keep humidity up.
Spawning to bulk: break up the grain and mix it through the substrate.

What do I need to add?
Just a spore syringe or liquid culture syringe. The base kit covers the tub, filters, plugs, liner, vermiculite and spray bottle, and you choose the grain spawn and substrate in the builder.
Can I use a coupon code on this kit?

Can I mix two different substrates?
Yes. You pick two 5 lb bags, and they can be the same substrate or two different ones, such as one Willy's Blend and one Select.
Should I choose rye or 5-grain spawn?
Both are sterilized in-house and inoculate the same way. Rye is the classic single-grain spawn with uniform, larger kernels; the 5-grain blend mixes kernel sizes for more inoculation points and an even spread through the substrate.
How much spore solution or liquid culture should I use?
Inject 5cc of spores or 7–10cc of liquid culture into each of the two spawn bags.
How long can the substrate wait while my grain colonizes?
Black Cow and Willy's Blend are best used within 45 days, sealed at room temperature. Keep Select Bulk Substrate sealed in the fridge if you're not using it right away; it keeps up to 6 months.
How is this different from the Complete Large 66Q kit?
The Complete kit comes with 5-grain spawn and Select Bulk Substrate. This kit starts from the same base kit and lets you pick your grain, your substrate and optional add-ons.
Can I reuse the monotub?
Yes. Clean it between grows and restock it with a 66Q refill kit: spawn, substrate, new filter disks and a fresh liner.
