Description
This Martha tent is a 4- or 5-tier indoor greenhouse built for fruiting mushrooms — the same frame and clear cover we use in every Ecosphere system. Powder-coated steel shelves hold up to 50 lbs each, the zippered cover holds in humidity, and the whole thing snaps together in minutes with no tools.
It is the classic starting point for a home fruiting chamber. Add a humidifier, some light and a way to move fresh air, and you have a vertical fruiting room in about the floor space of a small bookshelf. If you would rather have it all in one box, the Ecosphere 3.0 Foundation Edition is this same tent with the humidifier, lighting, timers and drip liner already included.

Turn it into a fruiting chamber
A Martha tent is the structure; mushrooms also need humidity, fresh air and some light. Here is how growers build it out:
- Add humidity. A 3L Monsoon humidifier fogs the tent from outside through a hose. Put it on a digital humidity controller to switch on automatically when humidity drops.
- Add fresh air. Peel-and-stick filter disks give passive air exchange; the Fresh Air Amplifier fan unit adds active airflow for full tents and high-oxygen species.
- Protect the floor. An 8mm drip liner under the bottom shelf catches drips and runoff.
- Add heat if your room is cool. The greenhouse heater and humidity control unit sits on the bottom rack, and a digital temperature controller holds your set temperature.

What is a Martha tent?
A Martha tent is a small clear-cover greenhouse on a wire-shelf frame, adapted by mushroom growers into a fruiting chamber. The shelves hold blocks, tubs or trays, the cover holds in humidity, and a humidifier and fresh air turn it into a controlled fruiting room.
Is this the same tent used in the Ecosphere?
Yes. It is the same frame and clear zippered cover used in our Ecosphere systems. The Ecosphere 3.0 Foundation Edition and Mushroom Ecosphere 3.0 add the humidifier, lighting, timers and (on the Ecosphere 3.0) heat to this same tent.
What else do I need to fruit mushrooms in it?
At minimum, a humidity source and fresh air. Most growers add a 3L Monsoon humidifier, filter disks or a fan for air exchange, and a drip liner. In a cool room, add a heater and temperature controller.
How much weight can each shelf hold?
Each powder-coated steel shelf holds up to 50 lbs, enough for several fruiting blocks, a loaded monotub, or two full aluminum trays.
Should I choose the 4-tier or the 5-tier?
Both share the same 27.6" x 19" footprint. The 4-tier is 63" tall; the 5-tier is 75" tall and adds a full extra shelf. If your ceiling allows it, the 5-tier gives you the most room for the same floor space.
