Description
The Complete Small 28Q Monotub Grow Kit is an all-in-one bulk mushroom grow kit: a 28-quart Grower's Select monotub, a 32 oz Premium 5-Grain spawn jar, 4 lbs of pasteurized Select Bulk Substrate, filters, plugs, a liner and a spray bottle. Just add spores or liquid culture.
The smallest and simplest way to try bulk growing. A single 32 oz grain jar spawns the whole tub, and every component is matched to it, so it is an easy step up from jar-based growing.
- 28QGrower's Select tub
- 32 oz jar5-grain spawn
- 4 lbsBulk substrate
- 4 + 4Filter disks + plugs
- AddSpores or LC
Why growers pick this kit
- Everything matched to the tub – Spawn, substrate, filters, plugs and liner are sized for the 28-quart tub.
- Pre-made spawn and substrate – Sterilized 5-grain spawn and pasteurized, pre-hydrated substrate — no sterilizing or mixing on your end.
- Thick-walled Grower's Select tub – Our own tub, made with extra-thick walls so the bottom doesn't flex when you move it.
- Airflow on your schedule – Plugs seal the holes while the tub colonizes; filter disks swap in for fresh air when it's time to fruit.
- Reusable – Clean the tub and restock with a fresh spawn jar and substrate for your next grow.
What's in the kit
- Grower's Select 28-quart monotub
- 1 × 32 oz Premium 5-Grain spawn jar, ready to inoculate
- 4 lbs (2 × 2 lb bags) of pasteurized Select Bulk Substrate
- 4 monotub filter disks
- 4 incubation hole plugs
- Custom monotub liner — reduces side pinning and simplifies cleanup
- 8 oz fine-mist spray bottle
- Step-by-step bulk growing instructions
You provide: a spore syringe or liquid culture syringe. Shop liquid culture syringes.
How it works
- Inoculate the jar. Wipe the injection port with alcohol and inject 3–4cc of spores or 5–7cc of liquid culture into the 5-grain jar. Not sure how many syringes to buy? Use our syringe calculator.
- Colonize the grain. Keep it at 72–76°F out of direct light. At about 25–30% colonization, break up and shake the grain, then let it finish until fully white.
- Spawn to bulk. Fit the liner in the tub. Break up the colonized grain and mix it evenly with the bulk substrate, then level the surface.
- Colonize the tub. Seal the air holes with the incubation plugs and let the tub colonize, warm and undisturbed, until the surface is white.
- Fruit. Swap the plugs for the filter disks, give the tub indirect light and mist the walls with the spray bottle to keep humidity up.

Spawning to bulk: break up the grain and mix it through the substrate.

FAQ
What do I need to add?
Just a spore syringe or liquid culture syringe. Everything else — tub, spawn, substrate, filters, plugs, liner and spray bottle — is in the kit.
How much spore solution or liquid culture should I use?
Inject 3–4cc of spores or 5–7cc of liquid culture into the 32 oz grain jar.
What temperature does it need?
Keep the grain and the tub at 72–76°F while they colonize. In a cool room, a heating mat under the tub helps.
When do I swap the plugs for filter disks?
Keep the air holes plugged while the tub colonizes. Once the surface is colonized, replace the plugs with the filter disks to bring in fresh air and start fruiting.
What is the liner for?
It blocks light from the sides of the tub, which cuts down on side pinning, and it makes cleanup between grows much easier.
Can I reuse the monotub?
Yes. Clean it between grows and restock it with a fresh 32 oz spawn jar and 4 lbs of Select Bulk Substrate.
Which size should I choose?
The Small 28Q is the simplest start, spawned by a single grain jar. The Medium 44Q uses one spawn bag and 7.5 lbs of substrate. The Large 66Q uses two spawn bags and 10 lbs for the biggest harvest per run.
