Description

A live mushroom culture on an agar slant is a first-generation Myco Labs culture growing in a sealed 15 mL tube — the standard way labs store genetics long-term. Pick your species, keep it in the fridge for over a year, and pull 5–6 transfers to agar plates or liquid culture.

Each slant comes with a disposable agar punch tool and a sterile #11 scalpel blade, so you can take your first transfer as soon as it arrives. Choose from 15 gourmet and functional species, from Lion's Mane and Blue Oyster to Red Reishi and Cordyceps militaris.

Why growers keep cultures on slants

  • Long-term storage – A refrigerated slant keeps your culture for over a year without constant subculturing.
  • Multiple transfers – Pull 5–6 transfers from one slant to new agar plates or liquid culture jars.
  • Sealed and compact – The sealed tube protects the culture from contamination and drying out, and takes up little fridge space.
  • Clean genetics – First-generation Myco Labs cultures, prepared to keep the strain true.
  • Ready to use – An agar punch and sterile scalpel blade come with every slant.

What's included

  • One 15 mL agar slant with your chosen live culture
  • One disposable agar punch tool
  • One sterile #11 scalpel blade

How to use a slant

  1. Store it cold. Keep the slant in the refrigerator until you're ready to make a transfer.
  2. Set up clean. Work in front of a flow hood or inside a still air box with clean hands and tools.
  3. Take a piece. Open the tube and cut or punch a small piece of mycelium from the slant.
  4. Transfer. Place it on a fresh agar plate or drop it into a sterile liquid culture jar.
  5. Reseal and return. Close the tube tightly and put it back in the fridge for your next transfer.
