Description
The Easy Mushroom Drying Kit dries mushrooms without heat or electricity. A 6.5-quart clear container holds your harvest on a mesh screen above two desiccants — activated alumina and color-changing silica gel — that pull moisture out of the air until the mushrooms are dry.
It works even in humid rooms, and the desiccants are reusable: bake them at 250°F for about an hour to recharge, then dry your next harvest.
- 6.5 qtClear chamber
- 4 ozActivated alumina
- 4 ozSilica gel
- 0.5 mmMesh screen
- 250°FRecharge
Why growers pick this kit
- No heat – Desiccants dry mushrooms gently at room temperature.
- Works in humid rooms – The sealed chamber keeps a low-humidity environment regardless of the room.
- Two desiccants – Color-changing silica gel pulls moisture fast and shows when it’s time to recharge; activated alumina keeps drying after the silica gel is full.
- Reusable – Bake the desiccants to recharge them and use the kit again and again.
- Compact – Small enough for a shelf or countertop — no electric dehydrator needed.
What’s in the kit
- Clear 6.5-quart drying chamber
- 0.5 mm mesh separation screen
- 4 oz activated alumina desiccant
- 4 oz color-changing silica gel desiccant
- Step-by-step instructions
How to use it
- Pre-dry. Air-dry fresh mushrooms in front of a fan first so most of the water is already gone.
- Add the desiccants. Pour the activated alumina and silica gel into the bottom of the container.
- Set the screen. Place the mesh screen above the desiccants.
- Load your harvest. Lay the pre-dried mushrooms on the screen in a single layer and close the lid.
- Wait until cracker-dry. They’re done when stems snap cleanly instead of bending.
- Recharge. When the silica gel changes color, bake the desiccants at 250°F for about 60 minutes, let them cool, and reuse.

FAQ
Does it need electricity?
No. The desiccants do all the work — no heat or power required.
Should I pre-dry my mushrooms first?
Yes. Air-dry fresh mushrooms in front of a fan first so most of the water is already gone, then let the desiccants finish the job.
How do I know when the desiccants need recharging?
The silica gel changes color. Bake both desiccants at 250°F for about 60 minutes, let them cool, and they’re ready again.
How do I know my mushrooms are dry?
They should be cracker-dry — stems snap cleanly instead of bending.
Can I reuse the kit?
Yes. The container, screen and desiccants are all reusable.
Is it better than a dehydrator?
It’s simpler and needs no power, which suits small harvests. For large harvests, a dehydrator is faster.
