Description
The Mushroom Ecosphere 3.0 is a complete, climate-controlled mushroom grow tent kit — a 4- or 5-tier vertical fruiting chamber with its own infrared heater, digital thermostat, 3L ultrasonic humidifier, LED lighting, and programmable timers. Set the temperature, set the timers, and grow anything from jars, spawn bags, fruiting blocks, and bulk casing trays side by side on a floor footprint of about 29" x 20", drip liner included.
The Ecosphere has been one of our flagship systems for years, and every version has been shaped by feedback from the growers running them. Version 3.0 is the most capable yet: a higher-output humidifier, brighter COB lighting, a thick molded drip liner, and a sealed brushless circulation fan built for life in high humidity.
- 4 or 5Tiers
- 17.7–22.5 cu ftGrowing space
- 200WInfrared heat
- 3LMonsoon humidifier
- 16.4 ftCOB LED lighting
Why growers pick the Ecosphere 3.0
- Holds its own temperature – a convection-based climate control unit with a light-free infrared heater and digital thermostat keeps the whole tent even, without hot spots
- Grows vertically – up to 22.5 cubic feet of interior space in about the floor area of a small bookshelf
- Runs several projects at once – jars on one shelf, spawn bags on another, a casing tray below
- Set-and-forget daily cycle – lights and humidifier each run on their own 24-hour programmable timer
- Everything in one box – tent, climate system, humidifier, lighting, timers, liner, trays, and filter disks
- Backed by a full guide library – step-by-step setup photos plus our growing guides for jars, spawn bags, and bulk
What's new in version 3.0
- Grower's Select™ 3L Monsoon humidifier – over 360 ml/hour of ultra-fine vapor from a longer-lasting ceramic atomizer
- Upgraded COB LED lighting – 16.4 ft of repositionable strip lighting (1550 lumens, 6000K) to trigger and support fruiting
- Custom-molded 8mm HDPE drip liner – thick and durable, with 3" barrier walls and no cutting required
- Brushless circulation fan – sealed motor design built to last in high-humidity air
- Better air exchange – high-flow peel-and-stick filter disks move fresh air while holding humidity

How the climate control system works
The short versionHeat rises from the bottom rack, the circulation fan spreads it evenly through every tier, and the thermostat switches the heater on and off to hold your set point. Humidity and light run on their own daily timers.
-
Assemble the frame and lay the liner. The steel shelving snaps together without tools. Drop the 8mm drip liner onto the bottom shelf to catch condensation.
-
Place the climate control unit on the bottom rack. Load the lava rocks into the tray on top of the unit and position the circulation fan as shown in the instructions.
-
Plug the heater into the digital thermostat and set your temperature. The thermostat cycles the 200W infrared element to hold that temperature around the clock.
-
Program the two timers. One runs your LED lighting schedule, the other runs the Monsoon humidifier on the misting cycle your species needs.
-
Add filter disks and load your grows. Stick the poly filter disks to the cover for passive fresh air exchange, then fill the shelves with jars, bags, blocks, or trays.
Hand-built and electrician-tested: every Ecosphere climate control unit is hand-built and tested by a licensed electrician to deliver safe, even heating with no hot spots or humidity gaps.

Worth addingTwo upgrades cover the things the base kit leaves on a timer. A digital humidity controller runs the Monsoon humidifier by actual humidity reading instead of by the clock, and the Fresh Air Amplifier fan unit gives oysters and lion's mane the extra fresh air they need for thick, well-formed fruits. Extra aluminum trays let you fill every shelf with casing trays.
Common questions
What can I grow in the Mushroom Ecosphere 3.0?
Almost any gourmet or functional species that fruits indoors — oysters, lion's mane, shiitake, chestnut, reishi and more. The shelves take whatever format you grow in: 1/2 pint or quart jars, spawn bags, supplemented sawdust fruiting blocks, and bulk casing trays. Because you can run several containers per shelf, it is common to have three or four different projects going at once.
Is the Ecosphere fully automated?
Temperature is: set it on the digital thermostat and the climate control unit cycles the heater to hold it. Lighting and the Monsoon humidifier each run on their own 24-hour programmable timer, so they switch on and off by themselves every day. Your jobs are refilling the humidifier's 3L tank and keeping an eye on the included thermometer/hygrometer. If you want the humidifier to switch on by humidity reading instead of by clock, add a digital humidity controller.
What temperature should I set, and can it cool the tent?
It depends on the species — most of the common gourmet species fruit well somewhere in the 60s to 70s °F, and the thermostat lets you match whatever you are growing. The climate control system heats; it does not cool. Set it a few degrees above your room temperature so the heater is doing the work, and place the Ecosphere in a room that stays below your target.
Should I choose the 4-tier or the 5-tier model?
Both share the same footprint and the same climate control system. The 5-tier is taller (75" vs 63") and adds a full extra shelf, taking interior space from 17.7 to 22.5 cubic feet. If you plan to run bulk casing trays or want room to incubate and fruit at the same time, the 5-tier is worth the extra height. If ceiling height or budget is the limit, the 4-tier handles jars and bags very comfortably.
How is this different from the Ecosphere 3.0 Foundation Edition?
The Foundation Edition is the same tent, humidifier, lighting, drip liner and filter disks, but without the climate control system — no infrared heater, circulation fan, lava rock tray or digital thermostat. It suits growers whose room already holds a steady fruiting temperature. The full Ecosphere 3.0 on this page is the version to buy if you want the tent to hold its own temperature. You can compare every configuration in our Ecosphere greenhouse systems collection.
Do I need more fresh air exchange than the filter disks provide?
The peel-and-stick filter disks give passive air exchange that works well for many species. High-oxygen growers like oysters and lion's mane produce thicker stems and better-formed caps with more airflow; if you mainly grow those, the Fresh Air Amplifier fan unit adds an adjustable-speed fan and washable filter vent that plugs into a timer.
Can I incubate and fruit in the same Ecosphere?
Yes — that is one of the main reasons growers choose a multi-tier system. Colonizing jars and spawn bags are sealed, so the humidity in the tent does not affect them, and the heater keeps them in a warm, steady range. Many growers colonize on one shelf and fruit on the others, moving containers up as they finish.
