The Glow-in-the-Dark Mycelium – Nature’s Luminescent Wonder
Panellus stipticus, also known as bitter oyster, astringent panus, or luminescent panellus, is one of the few known bioluminescent fungi in the world. Found throughout Asia, Australia, and North America, this visually captivating mushroom glows naturally in darkness—an effect that is most vivid during spore maturation and concentrated at the junction of the gills, cap, and stem. In some strains, only the mycelium emits light, offering a mesmerizing display during colonization.
Though non-edible, Panellus stipticus is nonpoisonous and of high scientific interest, currently studied for its bioremediation potential in cleaning land contaminated by organic pollutants and industrial polyphenol waste.

These fungi are a favorite among educators, hobbyists, and bio-artists due to their natural glow. They perform best in PF Tek jars, where the mycelium's luminescence is most easily observed.

These little jars were great for turning spores into ready to use mycelium culture. I could see the spores germinating with in 4 days after I added spores. I can’t wait to use the mycelium when it’s ready!

I was needing something with amuch smaller footprint the bigger tubs were getting in the way a lot. The only gripe I ever have is that the Midwest growkit systems always come with these weird detachable handles that look like something that a dog would like to chew up, or would be easy to misplace... Other than that love you guys, last month I got the Spore culture bottles 30 ml and expanded my pleurotus eryngii culture

New to Research, heard complaints of other Company's all-in-one bags getting Contaminated, many recommended Midwest. I know my process wasn't perfect and your bag made it to fruiting. Maxing out Strain size and shape, matching strain descripton and color. Ordered 5 more bags and 2 heating mats.
Ive ordered upwards of 50 bags of this substrate and only had 1 issue so its safe to say this is a quality product every bag has usherd in a succesful flush of my favorit strains so buy it
