The same heater unit and digital temperature controller that ship in every Ecosphere 3.0: a 200W light-free infrared heater, 5" brushless circulation fan and on/off switch, with a thermostat that holds the temperature you set. The lava rock water tray adds some moisture as it heats, but you still need a humidifier to reach 80–90% humidity.

Description

The Greenhouse Heater Unit with Digital Temperature Controller is the same climate control unit and thermostat that ship inside every Mushroom Ecosphere 3.0, sold on their own for Martha tents and other indoor mushroom greenhouses. A 200W light-free infrared element warms the tent, a 5" brushless fan spreads the heat evenly through every tier, and the included digital temperature controller switches the heater on and off to hold the temperature you set.

What you get: the heater unit with its on/off switch and circulation fan, plus the digital temperature controller and probe.

It is the fix for cold basements, garages, and winter grows, where the room is too cool for mushrooms to fruit well. Set it on the bottom rack, fill the tray, plug it into the controller, and set your temperature.

  • Thermostat included
  • Light-free infrared
  • Same unit as Ecosphere 3.0
  • Winter-ready
  • 200WInfrared heater
  • IncludedDigital thermostat
  • 41–108°FControl range
  • 5"Brushless fan
  • 1 qtLava rocks

Why growers add it

  • Holds the temperature you set – the included digital temperature controller reads the tent with its own probe and cycles the heater to keep it there
  • Even heat, no hot spots – convection from the brushless fan moves warm air through every tier instead of heating one corner
  • No light to disrupt fruiting – the infrared element heats without glowing, so your lighting schedule stays yours
  • Adds moisture as it heats – water in the lava rock tray evaporates as it warms, the way water does on sauna stones, giving your humidifier a head start
  • Proven in the Ecosphere – the same hand-built unit used in every Ecosphere 3.0, each one tested by a licensed electrician
  • Built for wet spaces – a custom waterproof housing holds up in a high-humidity grow tent

What comes in the box

  • Heater unit in a custom waterproof housing, with on/off switch
  • 200W light-free infrared heat element (ships loose — screw it into the socket)
  • 5" brushless circulation fan
  • Digital temperature controller / thermostat with 6 ft waterproof probe
  • Metal water tray with 1 qt of lava rocks

How to set it up

Greenhouse heater unit on the bottom rack of a mushroom grow tent with golden oyster and lion's mane blocks fruiting on the shelves around it
On the bottom rack, with golden oyster and lion's mane blocks fruiting around it.
  1. Place it on the bottom rack. Center it on the lowest shelf so warm air rises through every tier, with the tent cover and grow bags clear of the unit.
  2. Install the heat element. Screw the included infrared element firmly into the socket.
  3. Fill the tray. Add water until it covers the lava rocks.
  4. Connect the temperature controller. Plug the heater unit into the controller's outlet, plug the controller into the wall, and place the probe on a middle shelf, not directly above the heater.
  5. Switch it on and set your temperature. Flip the unit's switch to on and choose your target on the controller. It turns the heater on below your set point and off once it is reached.
  6. Keep the tray topped up. Check the water when you check your grows, and refill as it evaporates.

Heat, not humidity control: the lava rock tray adds some moisture to the air as it warms, but it will not hold fruiting humidity by itself. To reach the 80–90% most mushrooms need, run a humidifier alongside it. The unit also heats only — it cannot cool — so place your tent in a room that stays a few degrees below your target temperature, and keep plastic, bags, and substrate from resting against it.

Housing Custom waterproof housing, hand-built and tested by a licensed electrician
Placement Bottom rack of a Martha tent or Ecosphere (27.6" x 19" shelf)
Same unit as Mushroom Ecosphere 3.0 climate control system
4-tier mushroom grow tent with trays of mushrooms fruiting on three shelves, the greenhouse heater unit on the bottom rack and a humidifier beside the tent
A 4-tier tent running on this unit: trays fruiting on every shelf above it, with a humidifier alongside for humidity.

Complete the setupHeat is handled; humidity needs its own gear. Add the Mushroom Monsoon Greenhouse Humidifier (3.0L) to reach fruiting humidity, and a Digital Humidity Controller to run it by actual humidity reading instead of by the clock. Common questions

Is this the same unit that comes with the Ecosphere 3.0?

Yes. It is the same climate control unit and digital temperature controller that ship in every Mushroom Ecosphere 3.0: a 200W light-free infrared element, a 5" brushless circulation fan and a lava rock water tray in a waterproof housing, plus the thermostat that runs it. Buying it on its own lets you add Ecosphere-style heat to a Martha tent, an Ecosphere 3.0 Foundation Edition, or another clear-cover grow tent.

Is the temperature controller included?

Yes. A digital temperature controller with a 6 ft waterproof probe comes in the box. Plug the heater unit into the controller, place the probe in the tent, and set your target anywhere from 41 to 108°F. The controller switches the heater on below your set point and off once it is reached, so there is nothing else to buy for heat.

Does it control humidity?

No. It adds humidity but does not control it. Fill the top tray so the water covers the lava rocks; as the heater warms the tray, the water evaporates into the tent, much like water on sauna stones. That gives a helpful boost, but it will not reach or hold the 80–90% humidity most mushrooms need to fruit. For that you still need a humidifier.

Does the heater have a dimmer?

No. The unit has a simple on/off switch, and the included digital temperature controller does the regulating. Instead of guessing at a dimmer setting, you choose an exact temperature and the controller cycles the heater to hold it.

Does the heater give off light?

No. The infrared element produces heat without light, so it will not interfere with your lighting schedule or fruiting cycle.

The heater is not warming up. What should I check?

Make sure the switch on the unit is on and the temperature controller is set above the current tent temperature — the controller keeps the heater off once the set point is reached. To test the socket, plug the unit straight into the wall and screw in a standard light bulb: if it lights, the socket and wiring are working, so switch off, let everything cool, and reinstall the infrared heat element firmly. If a standard bulb does not light either, contact us.

Will it fit my tent?

It is built for the bottom rack of a Martha tent or Ecosphere, which uses a 27.6" x 19" shelf, and it works in similar clear-cover tents with a wire bottom shelf. Warm air rises from the bottom rack, and the fan spreads it through every tier above.
