Build Your Own Ecosphere lets you put together the mushroom grow tent you actually need. Every build starts with a 4-tier or 5-tier Ecosphere 3.0 Foundation Edition: the greenhouse tent, a 3L Monsoon ultrasonic humidifier, COB LED lighting, two timers, a drip liner and a Bluetooth thermometer/hygrometer. From there you add only what your grow calls for: heat, humidity control, fresh air, extra shelf space, and the grain, substrate or fruiting kits you plan to run.
The more you add, the more you save. 3–4 items take 5% off, 5–6 items take 10% off, and 7 or more take 15% off everything in your build, the tent included.

Build your Ecosphere in seven steps

Choose your Foundation Edition tent size. 4-tier (63" tall, 17.7 cu ft) or 5-tier (75" tall, 22.5 cu ft). Both come with the humidifier, lighting, timers, drip liner, filter disks and hygrometer.

Add climate control. A heater unit with digital temperature controller, a digital humidity controller, a Fresh Air Amplifier fan, or any combination.

Add capacity. A 6-pack of heavy-duty aluminum grow trays and an attic shelf for an extra tier.

Choose your grain. Original Rye or Premium 5-Grain spawn bags (2-packs), or Original Rye or 5-Grain 32oz grain jars (3-packs).

Choose your substrate. 5 lb bags of Midwest's Select Bulk Substrate, Black Cow or Willy's Blend.

The Foundation Edition: tent, humidifier, lighting, liner, timers and filter disks.
Heat is not included with the tent. The Foundation Edition holds humidity and light, but the tent sits at your room temperature. If your room runs cool, add the heater unit in step 2.

Both sizes use the same floor space, humidifier and lighting. If your ceiling height allows, the 5-tier gives you an extra full shelf.

The heater does not control humidity. Its lava rock tray adds some moisture as it warms, like water on sauna stones, but the humidifier that comes with your tent does the work of reaching 80–90% humidity. The heater unit sits on the bottom rack.

Do I need the heater?
Only if your room runs cooler than your mushrooms' fruiting range. The tent holds humidity and light but sits at room temperature. The heater unit adds a 200W infrared heater, a circulation fan and a digital temperature controller that switches it on and off to hold your set point.
Does the heater control humidity?
No. Its lava rock tray adds some moisture as it warms, but it does not control humidity. The 3L Monsoon humidifier that comes with your tent handles humidity on a timer, and the optional digital humidity controller runs it by the actual humidity reading instead.
Should I choose the 4-tier or the 5-tier tent?
Both use the same 29 x 20 inch footprint, humidifier and lighting. The 4-tier is 63 inches tall with 17.7 cubic feet of growing space; the 5-tier is 75 inches tall with 22.5 cubic feet and an extra full shelf. If ceiling height allows, the 5-tier gives you the most room for the same floor space.
What do I need to add to start growing?
That depends on what you pick. The 5 lb mushroom grow kits arrive colonized and ready to fruit. Grain spawn bags, grain jars and the manure-lover all-in-one bags need a spore syringe or liquid culture syringe, which is sold separately.
What can I grow in an Ecosphere?
Oysters, lion's mane, shiitake, chestnut, cordyceps and more. The shelves hold jars, spawn bags, fruiting blocks, monotubs and casing trays, and it is common to run several species at once.
How is this different from the Mushroom Ecosphere 3.0?
The Mushroom Ecosphere 3.0 is a fixed kit: the tent with the infrared climate control unit, thermostat and two aluminum trays included. Build Your Own starts from the Foundation Edition tent and lets you choose which climate control, capacity and grow supplies go with it.
