This 1 quart of Sun-Gro horticultural vermiculite is a medium (A-2) grade that holds water well, which makes it the go-to for dunk and roll on PF tek cakes and for topping off casing layers in bulk grows.
It's the same vermiculite we use in all of our kits and grows, so you know exactly how it will behave. One quart is enough to dunk and roll up to 24 PF jars, and it arrives in sealed, ready-to-use packaging. Unlike the coarse vermiculite sold at many garden centers, this grade coats cakes evenly and keeps moisture where your mushrooms need it.

What's included

How to dunk and roll PF cakes
- Birth the cake. Once the jar is fully colonized, slide the cake out of the jar.
- Dunk. Rinse the cake and soak it in clean water to rehydrate it.
- Roll. Roll the damp cake in dry vermiculite until it has an even coating on all sides.
- Set it to fruit. Place the coated cake in your fruiting chamber and keep humidity up.
Storage tip: Keep any leftover vermiculite sealed and dry so it stays clean for your next round of jars.
