Description
Description
This 1-gallon bag of Sun-Gro horticultural vermiculite is a medium (A-2) grade that absorbs water evenly and holds it, making it a go-to for dunk and roll, casing top layers and moisture retention in mushroom grows.
It's four times the volume of our 1-quart bag, sized for growers running more jars or tubs. Roll colonized cakes in it after dunking, or spread it as a top layer in your monotubs to keep your substrate hydrated through fruiting. It's asbestos-free and works with jars, spawn bags and bulk casing setups.

Why growers use our vermiculite
- Holds moisture – Absorbs water evenly and helps maintain humidity at the surface of your substrate.
- Even coating – The medium grade sticks to a damp cake in a uniform layer for dunk and roll.
- Casing top layer – A thin layer over bulk substrate helps keep it hydrated during fruiting.
- Versatile – Works with jars, spawn bags and bulk casing grows.
- Asbestos-free – Sun-Gro horticultural grade.
What's included
- 1 gallon of Sun-Gro horticultural vermiculite, medium (A-2) grade
How to use it
- Dunk. Rinse colonized PF cakes and soak them in clean water to rehydrate.
- Roll. Roll each damp cake in dry vermiculite until it's evenly coated.
- Or top-dress a tub. Spread a thin layer over your bulk substrate to help hold moisture at the surface.
- Fruit. Move cakes or tubs into fruiting conditions and keep humidity up.
Storage tip: Keep leftover vermiculite sealed and dry so it stays clean for your next grow.
