**NEW** Our new Black Cow Manure based casing Substrate may just be our best creation yet! The manure used in this casing mix is from organic grain fed dairy cows. The composting process from this manure is carefully monitored by high tech equipment. The manure is turned into specific size rows and water is added weekly to create the perfect environment. Beneficial microbes break down the manure reaching temperatures of 155 degrees.
The manure compost is carefully mixed with Coir, vermiculite, spring water and PH stabilizers to create a perfect mushroom growing consistency similar to our top selling Select Casing mix.
This casing mix colonizes at astonishing speeds and produces spectacular results. The extremely high count of beneficial microbes help keep some of the common molds away and protect the mycelium.
Each 5 pound bag comes fully hydrated and includes the following:
- Organic grain fed ultra composted bovine (cow) manure
- Coir (Coco Coir brand)
- Vermiculite
- Spring water
- PH stabilizers/buffers including Gypsum, hydrated lime
- Our special mineral blend (Calcium, Magnesium)
Mushroom Casing (Substrate) is a moisture retaining layer to spread on the top and bottom of your mushroom substrate. This method is generally referred to as the "Bulk" method, Monotub or Monotek; this is alternative way to fruit your spawn bags or jars. We provide easy to follow instructions on how to use and create your bulk grow. You must use this product with fully colonized spawn bags, Jars or similar.
To take full advantage of this casing mix, the shelf life of this casing mix is shorter than our traditional casing mix. We recommend storing at room temperature for up to 30 days for best results.
Start by using the following substrate amounts:
- 1 to 1.5 spawn bag per 1 bag of casing mix (using our 5grain or Rye spawn bags)
- 3 of our 24 oz Quick-Colonizing 5-grain Jars (Pint and half size) per 5 pound bag of casing mix
- 6 half pint substrate jars per 5 pound bag of casing mix
